A second left-turn lane from Manton St into Adam St will be created to increase capacity for motorists heading into the city, as part of a $6.2 million upgrade that will also improve pedestrian and cyclist safety.
The project, which is being funded by both the state and federal governments, will also provide easier and safer access to the neighbouring Adelaide Entertainment Centre and Hindmarsh Stadium.
Following community consultation, the right-hand turn from Manton St onto Adam St will remain, along with city-bound lane on Manton St and east-west access along Adam St.
The upgrade also includes a hook-turn facility for cyclists turning right onto Adam St and new realigned pedestrian crossings.
Work is expected to begin in the coming weeks and be completed by early 2025, supporting around 30 jobs during construction.
The upgrade is one of several enhancements to intersections near the River Torrens to Darlington project, that will ensure the road network functions efficiently, both during the project's construction and once it is completed.
