Top gongs for popular tourist destinations

Victor Harbor has taken out two awards at the Tourism Industry Council of SA Top Tourism Awards, announced late last month.

The Fleurieu Peninsula town was named Top Tourism Town, as well as being crowned the People's Choice winner at the awards, which recognise towns that offer amazing experiences and are committed to developing tourism in their region.

Victor Harbor is a popular coastal destination not only for South Australians, but interstate and international visitors.

Over the past few years, it has also undergone significant growth and investment, with its new Causeway, revitalised Main Street and Railways precinct, along with a flourishing events, arts and cultural sector.

Meanwhile, Mount Lofty House in the Adelaide Hills has won not one, but two tourism awards in the annual Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best awards, taking out Australia’s best luxury hotel and best small hotel.

It is the second time the luxury hotel has featured in the highly competitive awards - based on traveller reviews and ratings posted the year prior - having been named the best hotel in the South Pacific and Australia in 2022.

South Australian Tourism Commission Chief Executive Officer Emma Terry said the awards helped to build the world-class offerings and experiences we have in South Australia.

“It’s great to see more recognition for tourism in South Australia, and in particular the awards shining a spotlight on our iconic regions,” she said.
