Tickets on sale as Lions to roar into Adelaide

Children celebrate news that the British & Irish Lions will be back in Adelaide in 2025.

Tickets have gone on sale for the historic British & Irish Lions Tour match at Adelaide Oval on 12 July, 2025.

With unprecedented demand for tickets during presale windows it is expected the first release of general public tickets will be snapped up by keen rugby fans from South Australia, interstate and overseas.

It will be the first time the British & Irish Lions have visited South Australia since 1888, delivering what is expected to be a major boost to the state’s visitor economy with a capacity crowd of 54,000 people expected at the match.

The Lions will play an invitational side comprised of players from Australia and New Zealand – the first of its kind since 1989 – in what is the most crucial tour game the week ahead of the first Test.

The British & Irish Lions are selected from the best players from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. They tour Australia, New Zealand and South Africa on rotation every four years while never playing a series at home in the UK or Ireland. Following this tour, the next opportunity to see the Lions in Australia won’t come until 2037.

The last Australian Tour by the Lions in 2013 attracted an estimated 30-40,000 British and Irish supporters, generating an estimated $150 million for the Australian economy.

Rugby Australia CEO Phil Waugh said he was thrilled to offer general public tickets to what he said was going to be "an incredible six weeks with the Lions on Australian soil".

"We’ve seen huge demand across the pre-sale windows for Wallabies First and Super Rugby club members and I’m sure this first allocation for the general public will be no different," Mr Waugh said.

"I would urge all rugby fans, and major eventgoers to get in quick to make sure they don’t miss out. Having the Lions tour is one of the great sporting events in Australia and we look forward to welcoming them and their huge number of travelling supporters next year."
