The Adelaide Fringe Impact Report shows the 2026 festival generated an estimated $238.3 million in expenditure across the South Australian economy, a 20.4 per cent increase on 2025.
This included $165.8 million in new expenditure brought into the state by people who travelled specifically for the Fringe or extended their stay to attend festival events. This represents a 14.9 per cent increase compared to 2025.
There were more than 6 million attendances across ticketed and free events, a 6.4 per cent increase from 2025, and 1,083,014 tickets sold – the equivalent of filling Adelaide Oval more than 20 times.
Artists were among the major beneficiaries, with more than $25 million in box office revenue flowing directly to performers and producers.
The State Government has committed $20 million to the Adelaide Fringe over four years, including $1.5 million for Honey Pot – an international arts marketplace connecting artists with programmers and buyers from around the world.
Adelaide Fringe Executive Director Tara MacLeod said the festival’s impact goes far beyond ticket sales and economic outcomes.
"What makes Adelaide Fringe so powerful is that its impact is felt well beyond the box office," she said.
"It creates opportunities for artists, brings people into venues and businesses, supports schools and community access, and gives audiences from every background a way to be part of something bigger.
"The economic result is extraordinary, but it sits alongside a much broader cultural and social impact that is just as important to South Australia."
