If you remember loading a roll of film into the back of an SLR and waiting for your photos to come back from developing then there’s a chance you might qualify for Through the Lens 2025.
This unique photographic competition is open to all Seniors Card members, and is delivered by the Office for Ageing Well and Seniors Card to celebrate International Day of Older Persons on 1 October and South Australia’s Week of Ageing Well from 1-7 October.
Now in its fourteenth year, Through the Lens started as a humble photographic competition back in 2013 to showcase the wonderful talents of Seniors Card members.
Celebrating the skills of older South Australians through the art of photography, Through the Lens demonstrates that people can learn and create at any age.
Winners will be chosen across several c
ategories: Active Ageing, Landscape & Nature, Artistic, Meaningful Connections, Portrait and Judge’s Choice. Pictured right is Lawrence Vassallo's 2023 winning entry of a pixie parasol mushroom.
Entrants are encouraged to use their creativity and consider a variety of areas, including lifestyle, volunteers, lifelong learning, sport, family, arts and culture, leisure, multicultural, vibrant South Australia, landscapes and people.
The 2025 instalment of Through the Lens will see finalists’ and winners’ entries displayed in an exhibition held at the Adelaide City Library, with a launch event on 2 October.
The exhibition will be open to the public throughout October.
To participate in this photo competition, which closes on 15 August, entrants must upload their photo via the online submission tool on the Seniors Card website.
