Financial incentives to attract health workers to SA

The State Government has launched a new campaign to attract interstate and overseas health workers to South Australia.

The For Work. For Life campaign is aimed at luring health professionals to our state, by promoting competitive pay, career opportunities and our enviable lifestyle.

Financial incentives will also be on offer to assist with the relocation and to fill gaps in the remotest reaches of our state.

The money, up to $10,000 to move to metro Adelaide, $13,000 to regional centres or $15,000 to rural SA, will cover travel, short-term accommodation and other expenses.

Workers from interstate, New Zealand and the United Kingdom will initially be targeted, including doctors, nurses, midwives, mental health professionals, specialists and a range of allied and scientific health workers.

This will follow a rollout to other countries including Canada, the United States and Ireland.

Department for Health and Wellbeing Chief Executive Dr Robyn Lawrence said the recruitment campaign would attract health professionals of the highest calibre to our state.

“SA Health is committed to growing our workforce so that our communities can receive outstanding healthcare swiftly and closer to home,” Dr Lawrence said.

“We will continue to explore all available avenues to strengthen South Australia’s medical workforce and healthcare delivery.”
