The new 1.3km-long path runs between Third Ave in Semaphore Park and Wara Wayingga-Tennyson Dunes Conservation Reserve in West Lakes Shore.
The 3m-wide concrete shared-use track, which includes new shelters, benches and picnic areas, provides a safe and convenient way for walkers, joggers, cyclists and families of all abilities to enjoy more of our picturesque coastline.
It was designed to minimise the impact on the dune system, native vegetation and local fauna while maximising community benefit and reducing effects on neighbouring properties.
The path is one of the few remaining links of the Coast Park initiative, aimed at improving community access and enjoyment of Adelaide beaches by creating a continuous 70km-shared path along the metropolitan coastline, from North Haven to Sellicks Beach.
Design work is now nearing completion on the next - and final - stretch of the Coast Park, between Terminus St in Grange and Bournemouth St in Tennyson, following community and stakeholder feedback.
The Department for Environment and other stakeholders will be involved in further work regarding the path running through the Tennyson Dunes.
These two Coast Park projects have been jointly funded by the State Government and the City of Charles Sturt.
