Each year thousands of people come together at more than 150 events across the Tasting Australia menu. If you want to sample the best food and drink in Australia here are some serving suggestions.

Tasting Australia’s Town Square (above) is the festival hub and home to deliciously diverse eating and drinking experiences.

Fun, free and perfect for families, this is the place to meet for a drink, stay for a meal and explore.

Come early, stay late and see where Town Square's 14 incredible food vendors (external site) take you, from a taste of the Mediterranean at Athena Greek Street Eats (external site)and Francesca's Pizza and Sandos (external site) to the wild flavours of home with Africola Wild Harvest (external site)or Kuti Shack (external site).

Join Pipit chef Ben Devlin (external site) as he introduces gyotaku: an ancient Japanese method of printing with fish that celebrates the connection between food, art and the sea.

Sydney restaurant Pipit is the only Australian fine diner offering this unique integrated art and dining experience. Now it comes to Town Square.

Following the demonstration, chef Ben will create two snacks from the seafood he’ll be featuring, along with an additional drink to match.

Fresh seafood features in every Hellenic feast. That means it’s front and centre at hot new Adelaide restaurant Omada, where Andy Ferrara brings traditional flavours to the fore in a Greek-inspired menu that’s still decidedly modern. He will be joined by South Australia’s Fair Seafood - the first and only Australian seafood wholesaler and retailer to provide complete traceability across its entire range - for this mid-week lunch. The perfect excuse to slip out of office for a seriously tasty bite.

Come autumn we crave comfort. The soup pot comes out. The slow cooker makes its return. And mushrooms – brought forth by the warm, damp earth – delight us anew.

Josh Cooke will collaborate with the Fleurieu Peninsula’s Choice Mushrooms for this seasonal lunch. Expect produce-driven fare akin to the standouts he crafts as executive chef of the Favaro Group, responsible for acclaimed Adelaide venues including Chianti and Rozelle’s.

Eight Producers. Eight Wines. Four courses. One lively evening of chardonnay.

Some of the Adelaide Hills’ most exciting chardonnay producers are joining together for a night where this noble grape variety takes centre stage.

Across four courses, eight producers will move through the room, joining a new group of guests with each course to chat and share stories behind the wine. Think of it as musical chairs, but with world-class chardonnay and far better conversation.
