It might be held in Adelaide’s most chilly month, but this year’s Illuminate Adelaide program is sure to bring warmth to those who attend.
Running from 2-20 July, this year's festival will feature more than 100 experiences, including nine world premieres and 23 Australian exclusives.
Highlights include Horizons, which will transform Adelaide Oval into a living, breathing canvas using drones, light and sky, which will share the stories of South Australia's past, present and future.
Night Visions will take visitors on a journey through the Adelaide Botanic Garden using cutting-edge light, lasers, projections and sounds.
Illuminate Adelaide co-founders and creative directors Lee Cumberlidge and Rachael Azzopardi shared their joint excitement in announcing the 2025 program.
"In this, our fifth edition of Illuminate, we are excited to present world-leading artists and creatives in art, light, music and technology to bring the city to life in July," they said.
"We are forging new frontiers by producing and presenting two new Illuminate Adelaide productions in Night Visions at Adelaide Botanic Garden and Horizons at Adelaide Oval in conjunction with some visionary collaborators from all over the world."
The young, and young at heart can look forward to the next age of prehistoric wonder with Universal Kingdom: The Next Era, the second installment in the thrilling dino adventures taking over Adelaide Zoo after dark.
The free City Lights program returns with a stellar lineup of local, national and international artists bringing the bustling CBD to life this winter.
Other highlights include Offline Club, an Australian premiere that invites guests to step away from their devices and rediscover the joy of real-world connection, and Supersonic, a brand-new music event over 12 hours in the West End.
And don’t worry if all those steps make you hungry (or thirsty) the beloved late-night hub - Base Camp - returns to fire up the chilly winter nights and is once again located at Lot Fourteen on North Terrace offering a curated selection of Adelaide’s most exciting food and beverage.
In 2024, the festival welcomed more than 1.3 million attendees, helping entice visitors to discover South Australia in the cooler months and drive dollars into local businesses in a traditionally quiet season.
