Up and away, from Hong Kong straight to SA

South Australia is becoming even more connected to the world, with Cathay Pacific offering a seasonal route that will see three flights between Adelaide and Hong Kong in November and March.

This will increase to five flights during the summer months from December to February.

The move will support South Australia's growing tourism industry while creating more opportunities for exporters, international students and local businesses.

Extra cargo space will also allow more premium South Australian products, including wine, seafood and high-tech goods, to reach overseas markets.

The announcement follows the recent launch of direct China Eastern services between Adelaide and Shanghai, giving travellers and businesses greater access to key markets across Asia and beyond.

The state's growing global connections are already delivering results. South Australia exported a record $18.4 billion in goods in the 12 months to May 2026.

Tourism continues to grow too, with Adelaide Airport welcoming more than 716,000 passengers in May, its busiest May on record.

Adelaide Airport Managing Director Brenton Cox welcomed Cathay's return to Adelaide.

"We expect Cathay Pacific's non-stop service to Hong Kong with excellent connections to Asian and European destinations will again prove popular for both inbound and outbound tourism, international students and our local exporters," Mr Cox said.

Operating on the airline's Airbus A350-900 aircraft, the seasonal service will offer convenient connections through Hong Kong to more than 100 destinations across Asia, Europe, North America and beyond.
