Support on offer for SA's small business owners

If you run or work in one of South Australia's 155,000 small businesses, Small Business Week is your opportunity to connect with others, learn from the experts and be inspired to take your business to the next level.

The program includes a week of free workshops, webinars, in person information sessions, tours, and networking.

A highlight of the week will be a full-day Small Business Expo to be held on Thursday 2 May at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, where attendees will hear from government, industry experts including Australian financial journalist and TV personality Alan Kohler AM, and other leading support organisations.

Regional small business owners and operators can also take part in the week-long events, with a program to support small and family businesses in Kangaroo Island, Adelaide Hills, Berri, Port Pirie, Ceduna and Port Lincoln.

All sessions, whether in-person or online, will align with the six themes of the SA Small Business Strategy 2023-2030, which were identified by South Australian business owners as the areas where they could use the most support to achieve growth.

The themes are:

  • strengthening business capability
  • building skills and workforce
  • navigating the digital environment
  • boosting business sustainability
  • embracing diversity
  • improving access to government services.

South Australia's Small Business Commissioner Nerissa Kilvert said the week was a fantastic opportunity for our state's small businesses, in particular the Gov To You event.

"Small Business Week provides a fantastic opportunity for conversations, the sharing of ideas, and celebrating the vital contribution small businesses make to the vibrancy and economy of South Australia,"  Ms Kilvert.

"Gov to You is focused on bridging the gap between small business owners and support available from government agencies and industry associations in helping them run and grow their business. Gov to You will allow small business owners access to personalised support and advice dependent on their unique circumstances, as all the right people will be in the one place at one time."
