Schools to share in infrastructure upgrade funding

Seaviews Downs Primary is one of the 10 schools to share in the funding and has been granted a further $4.3 million towards construction of several new buildings and classrooms, with work expected to start in January 2024.

The project, totalling $19.3 million, also includes a new administration building and the demolition of ageing infrastructure.

Seaview Downs Primary Principal Sam Winters said the school community was excited about the redevelopment.

“With new, modern facilities, our teachers can continue to deliver a high-quality learning program for our students in spaces that have been designed with collaboration and flexibility in mind,” Mr Winters said.

Fregon Anangu School in the APY Lands will receive a further $1.5 million funding towards its $21 million major upgrade, which includes the construction of several teaching buildings and food technology and administration facilities.

An extra $1.2 million has been granted to John Pirie Secondary School in Port Pirie, for its almost $12 million redevelopment project, which includes improvements to its Powerhouse Theatre and two new middle school buildings.

Other schools benefiting from the extra funding are:

  • Seaview High School - $1.9 million towards a $17.65 million upgrade which includes a new performing arts centre and two-storey creative design building, STEM facilities and the demolition of ageing infrastructure.
  • Belair Primary School - $1.5 million towards a $6.5 million upgrade of learning areas and student and staff amenities.
  • Elliston RSL Memorial Children’s Centre - $1.4 million towards a $3.4 million project moving the centre to the school site.
  • Springbank Secondary College - $1.2 million towards a $11.55 million upgrade which includes a refurbished main building and new disability unit classes, demolition of ageing infrastructure and a new covered outdoor area.
  • Murray Bridge North School - $580,000 towards a $5 million project for two new outdoor learning areas, an improved school entrance, landscaping and refurbishment of learning spaces.
  • Reidy Park Primary School - $330,000 towards a $5.33 million upgrade which includes a new outdoor covered area, the redevelopment of play spaces and the refurbishment of learning areas.
  • Cummins Area School - $297,000 towards a $4.2 million upgrade delivering a new technology studies, art and general learning areas building, landscaping and an upgraded administration area.
