AC/DC’s association with Adelaide is a long and storied one.
It was right here, back in 1974, that the Young brothers and their merry band of rock ’n’ roll misfits were introduced to Bon Scott – lead singer of local prog-rock outfit Fraternity – when he jumped on stage to sing with them at the Pooraka Hotel.
The rest, of course, is history.
The Scottish-Australian group went on to become one of the most successful acts in recording history, selling more than 200 million albums.
Back In Black, the band’s 1980 tribute to Bon – who tragically passed earlier that year – has sold more than 50 million copies, ma
king it the highest-selling album in history behind Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
And now, for the first time in a decade, AC/DC is returning to city that played such an important role in its history, headlining the final night of the bp Adelaide Grand Final as part of the 2025 POWER UP tour.
The tour shares its name with the band’s 2020 album, POWER UP, which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Chart in Australia and 20 other countries around the globe.
In 2024, the POWER UP Tour kicked off in Europe with a staggering 1.7 million tickets sold in the first days of sales, eventually surpassing 2 million tickets sold across 24 shows.
The band just concluded 10 sold-out shows in North America and has 15 additional shows scheduled across Europe before returning to Australia.
Joining AC/DC as special guests at the bp Adelaide Grand Final is Australian punk outfit Amyl and the Sniffers.
Grammy Award winning writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Lenny Kravitz will head the Saturday night concert, along with ARIA Award winning rock band Jet.
Tickets to the bp Adelaide Grand Final for Sunday will be available for purchase from 10am CST on Thursday June 26 at ticketmaster.com.au/adelaidegrandfinal.
