South Australian Tourism Commission Chair David Koch said the event was an opportunity for local businesses to capitalise on the influx of footy fans to the state.

"Fantastic footy, plus top-quality South Australian food and wine? It doesn’t get much better than that," Mr Koch said.

Jake Kellie, co-owner and executive chef at arkhé - one of the traders taking part in the festival - was looking forward to showcasing the "amazing food and beverages South Australia is famous for".

"Norwood Food & Wine Festival has such a buzz about it and we look forward to welcoming plenty of interstate visitors alongside our local supporters," he said.

City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters Mayor Robert Bria said last year's Gather Round generated $15.8 million in consumer spending across the council area.

"We saw $4.6 million in hospitality spending across those three days, including $1.5 million on the Sunday when the Norwood Food & Wine Festival was held," Mr Bria said.

"Importantly, expenditure from interstate tourists during those three days was $1.2 million, reinforcing the economic benefits AFL Gather Round brings to The Parade and the Council area, more generally."
