Warning: Seniors Card scam targeting older South Australians


South Australian seniors are being urged to be aware of a scam website that attempts to charge applicants a fee in exchange for a Seniors Card.

The misleading website - called The Seniors Assistant - claims to specialise in ‘providing assistance and consultation services for several senior-related applications and processes such as the Seniors Card.

The legitimate SA Seniors Card is always free of charge and applicants are never requested to pay a fee or disclose their bank, credit card or PayPal details in exchange for membership.

The official SA Seniors Card website is www.seniorscard.sa.gov.au.Look out for the official Government of South Australia and Seniors Card logos to ensure you are accessing the correct website before applying for membership.

Seniors Card has been providing older South Australians with benefits and discounts for more than 30 years.

Applicants must be aged 60 or older, be a permanent South Australian resident and not working than 20 hours per week in paid employment (part-time and casual employees may average their hours over a 12-month period).
