World Cup fever kicks off at The Drive

Football fans won't have to travel across the globe to experience the excitement of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, with Centre Court at The Drive set to host a dedicated Live Site for the CommBank Socceroos' group-stage matches.

While the tournament will be played across North America, local football fans will be able to come together to watch every moment of Australia's World Cup campaign on a big undercover screen.

Whether its a lunchtime kick-off or an early morning showdown, supporters will be able to come together to watch Australia take on some of the world's best footballing nations on sport's biggest stage.

The Drive will host live broadcasts of all three Socceroos group matches:

  • Sunday 14 June – Australia v Türkiye, gates open 12.30pm ahead of a 1.30pm kick-off
  • Saturday 20 June – Australia v USA, gates open 4am before the 4.30am match
  • Friday 26 June – Australia v Paraguay, gates open 10.30am for an 11.30am kick-off.

Fans can expect more than just football, with live DJs, MCs and food and drinks available throughout each free event.

Located in the heart of Adelaide, The Drive Live Site will also provide an opportunity for visitors to continue the celebrations at nearby cafés, bars and restaurants.

If Australia progresses beyond the group stage, additional opportunities for fans to gather and watch matches together will be announced closer to the time.

South Australia has a strong track record of turning out for major football events. During the FIFA Women's World Cup™ in 2023, more than 87,000 fans attended fan sites across Adelaide throughout the tournament, while hospitality venues across the state welcomed thousands more supporters.

The FIFA World Cup 2026™ is expected to attract a global audience of billions, making it one of the largest sporting events in the world.

The State Government is also helping licensed venues make the most of the World Cup by reducing fees for short-term liquor licence applications and prioritising approvals for venues wanting to open outside their usual trading hours.

Licensed venues seeking more information can contact Liquor Licensing on 131 882.
