The new $28.8 million initiative will ensure every public primary school will have an Autism Inclusion Teacher, including schools from Reception to Year 12.

The role of the teachers is to build and share knowledge and expertise with other teachers in the school and to provide support to autistic children within the school environment. This includes:

• Setting up calm spaces
• Emotional regulation techniques
• Learning support for neurodiverse students and how they best learn in the school environment.

Regional, remote and small schools will be included in the program.
