How to tee up the perfect LIV Golf weekend

If you’re heading to the Grange Golf Club this weekend for LIV Golf Adelaide, you can leave the car at home and jump on the free public transport that will be running across the three-day tournament.

With close to 100,000 people expected to pour through the gates to cheer on Aussie star and reigning champion Cam Smith and his team as they try to defend their title, Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services will be working hard to make sure nobody misses out on a minute of the action.

Golf fans can simply show their event ticket when boarding to receive free travel, with dedicated shuttle buses also operating across the city to help transport fans to Grange all weekend.

The shuttles will be servicing bus zones near key hotels in the Adelaide CBD, Glenelg, West Beach, Henley Beach, as well as bus stops near the Adelaide 36ers Arena and Woodville Railway Station.

In a new addition to this year's LIV Golf Adelaide, the 6th hole will be transformed into a Family Fairway, with a kids' DJ, other live entertainment, food trucks, mini golf and the RangeGoat GC Petting Zoo.

Other non-sporting entertainment promises to be next level, with DJ and producer DOM DOLLA to perform on Friday night, indie favourites Jungle Giants on Saturday night and pro surfer-turned dance music phenom Fisher on Sunday night.

There’s good news too for those who need a break from the golfing action, with businesses in the city being granted extended trading hours over the weekend.

The extended shop trading will continue through the festival season, allowing businesses to take advantage of the huge crowds that flock to the CBD for the Adelaide Festival, Fringe and WOMADelaide concert.

Under the exemptions, the CBD Tourism Precinct will be able to open every Saturday between 15 February and 22 March until 6pm.

Data from Adelaide Economic Development Agency shows extended shopping hours during last year’s festival season helped increase visitation to Rundle Mall by 22 per cent, compared to the 12-month average for Saturdays.

More than 50 players across 13 teams will battle it out on the green throughout LIV Golf Adelaide, which runs from Friday 14 February to Sunday 16 February.
