Forty-eight new Housing Trust apartments for Camden Park

Vacant land on the corner of Anzac Hwy and Cromer St in Camden Park has been earmarked as the site for a new $23.72 million public housing project.

The State Government is providing the land and the Federal Government the funding for the six-storey South Australia Housing Trust apartment complex, which will feature 48 two-bedroom apartments designed to house 96 people.

The vacant 7500sq m site was previously home to 48 two-storey Housing Trust dwellings that were no longer fit for purpose.

Existing Housing Trust tenants have been progressively relocated over the past two years and the buildings demolished.

The proposed Housing Trust apartments will form a crucial element in the greater renewal of this area of Camden Park, and the higher density living will create more space for additional future housing options currently being assessed by the SA Government.

The proposed development backs onto a walking and bike path and is located 100m from a bus stop on Anzac Hwy.

The development application will be released for public consultation in the coming months.

If approved, the new Housing Trust apartment block is expected to be complete in 2027.
