Major Brooklyn Park intersection to get $85m upgrade

The upgrade will increase traffic capacity and therefore slash road congestion at the intersection, which is a major commuter, freight and public transport route and has about 60,000 vehicles pass through it every day.

The $85 million project is being jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments, with major construction expected to start in late 2024 and be completed in early 2026.

As part of the improvements, new turning lanes will be added to Sir Donald Bradman Drive in both directions, along with an extended left-turn lane for motorists travelling north on Marion Rd and turning west onto Sir Donald Bradman Drive.

New bicycle lanes will be installed on all approaches, with pedestrian crossings to be upgraded to improve safety for cyclists and walkers.

Other intersection improvements will include new LED road lighting, asphalt, drainage, kerbing and gutters.

The upgrade will also include new public spaces and landscaping, with members of the public invited to have their say on how this should look.

Feedback can be provided by completing an online survey, or face-to-face at drop-in community information sessions, which will be held on Thursday 17 August from 5pm-7pm, and Saturday 19 August from 2pm-4pm, at the Adelaide West Uniting Church, 312 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Brooklyn Park.
