The design for the final leg of the Main South Rd duplication, between Aldinga Beach Rd and Sellicks Beach, has been unveiled.

The project, being delivered as part of the Fleurieu Connections project, includes:

  • The realignment of the Aldinga Beach Rd and Sellicks Beach Rd intersection;
  • An underpass at the intersection of Main South Rd with the newly realigned Aldinga Rd and Aldinga Beach Rd;
  • Three U-turns to facilitate local access, in addition to the Aldinga interchange;
  • Intersection upgrades at Hart and Colville roads, Norman and Rogers roads, and Hahn and Cox roads;
  • The installation of wide centre medians and wire rope barriers to improve safety by separating northbound and southbound traffic.

A shared-use path along the western side of Main South Rd, from Aldinga to Sellicks Beach, will also be built.

The project is set to be completed in 2026 and will support up to 405 full-time jobs over the construction period.

Stage one of the project - the duplication of the road between Seaford and Port Rd, Aldinga - is now open.

The $810.4 million Fleurieu Connections project is being jointly funded by the South Australian and Australian governments.
